Fourth grade studies state history in their social studies classes. This year we decided to combine some social studies with art and created Fremont Indian Figurines. The Fremont people lived in this region from around 700 AD to the 1300's, then mysteriously disappeared. The figurines you can see in the picture above were found in the ruins of a Fremont village. No one knows the purpose of the figurines, though we sure had fun guessing what they might have been used for!
Here are some photos of our 'Fremont' figurines. We haven't finished them yet, we are going to add some paint to ours similar to the originals.
